No. Reach Every Voice is not a school, and we are not a replacement for one.
REV is a communication and academic support program. We work alongside students' schools, families, and educational teams to provide instruction in spelling-based communication, adapted grade-level academics, and communication partner training. Our students attend public schools, private schools, homeschool programs, and microschools. They come to us for the specialized instruction and access work that most school settings are not yet equipped to provide.
A few specifics about what this means in practice:
We do not issue diplomas, grant credits, or serve as a student's primary educational placement.
We do not provide special education services under an IEP.
We are not a licensed private school under Maryland or any other state's education code.
What we do is fill a specific gap. Students who use letterboards, keyboards, or other text-based communication often need dedicated time with trained communication partners and access to grade-level content that has been thoughtfully adapted, not simplified. That is the work we do, in person at our Gaithersburg and Severna Park locations, online through live and recorded courses, and through our professional development offerings for the educators and family members who support them the rest of the week.
Reach Every Voice (REV) and Communication for Education (CFE) are separate organizations with overlapping missions and shared founding history.
Reach Every Voice provides direct services to students and families: communication instruction, academic support, in-person group programs, online classes, and consultation. REV also produces adapted grade-level curriculum and professional development for educators. REV serves the greater Baltimore-Washington area in person, and families across the country and internationally online. The nonprofit arm, REV AccessAbility, Inc., is a 501(c)(3) public charity supporting REV's mission through scholarships, grant-funded initiatives, and equity-focused work.
Communication for Education is an online training platform, built at a partnership among REV and two other organizations, offering self-paced courses for educators, families, and communication partners who support nonspeaking and partially speaking learners. CFE focuses on the systematic skill-building communication partners need, regardless of which methodology they use.
Families and educators often work with both organizations. CFE courses are recommended for any communication partner working with a REV student, and REV's in-person communication partner training programs build on CFE foundations.
Are donations to REV tax-deductible?
Yes. Donations made through our donate page support REV AccessAbility, Inc., our 501(c)(3) public charity (EIN: 47-5053216). Contributions fund training scholarships for families with financial need, grant-funded initiatives like our Transforming Access curriculum project, and accessibility work that direct service revenue cannot fully cover.
