The Communication Partner Model

Students attend with a communication partner who actively participates alongside them.

This model allows staff to:

  • Coach communication partners in real time

  • Facilitate inclusive, peer-based discussions

  • Support meaningful interaction across all communication styles, including AAC

Communication partners are supported throughout the program — coaching is embedded naturally within sessions.

Who This Program is For

This program is a strong fit for students who:

  • Benefit from structured peer interaction

  • Use AAC or other alternative communication methods

  • Enjoy discussion-based, interest-driven learning

  • Are developing self-advocacy, identity, and real-world skills

  • Need intentional support to participate meaningfully in group settings

No prerequisite communication skills required. Belonging comes first.
